4 Month Update & Pictures

So I didn't do a 3 month update because not much had really happened so here is pretty much our 3-4 month update!

  • He just started rolling over about a week ago, I missed it the first THREE times he did it! I walked out of the room and came back to find him on his tummy!! Now he does it constantly, but refuses to roll BACK over so he gets mad till we turn him over lol.
  • He started eating oatmeal after his 4 month appointment. I think we may start on veggies next week, he has been downing the oatmeal like it's nothing!
  • I think the biggest thing so far is....he started sleeping in his crib!!! It was definitely hard on ME the first night, I went in there several times, started at the monitor and could not fall asleep lol but he did good, he woke up a few times but he is doing really good now!
  • He also go his first cold/ bug and is still trying to get over it and is on antibiotics, I sure hate his little cough and I hate I can't do anything about it. I am hoping between his medicine and the humidifier we got him that after the weekend he will be better
  • I got a new job, I have mixed feelings about it! I am excited for us to do more, and have more money for ALL of us to do stuff and to be able to do more to make memories with Brody and our future kids but at the same time it is going to be SO hard to leave my sweet boy for 8 hours a day! But I know it will also be good for him to not be with me 24/7 and become independent, so please keep all 3 of us in your prayers on that!
  • He "talks" sooooo much it is SO crazy! I believe it is the most adorable thing ever right now! He lets out laughs every so often but I am so excited for when he laughs a lot!
  • At his 4 month Drs. appointment he weighed 17 lbs 7oz and was 22 inches long...he is growing like a weed! He's pretty on track with his clothes, he wears 3 mo clothes and size 2 shoes. He is wearing size 2 or 3 diapers, we have a few 2 left and then we may just move on to size 3 whic he wears at night. We will see what happens in the next few days once we run out
  • He can hold on to things pretty well & always pulls his binky out of his mouth and holds on to it.
  • He definitely loves mommy, daddy, nana (my mom), poppy (my dad), memaw (mikes mom) and grandpa alan! But it definitely seems like daddy and poppy can get him to talk the most!
I think that's all the things I can think of right now. Now for some pictures!
Second time trying oatmeal, first time he was tired so it lasted 2 mins lol. Those blue eyes, he is the cutest thing ever!

4 month pictures!

We are pretty good at this now!

This happens a lot...

And so does this...he loves that darn thumb!

Another favorite picture!

Little cutie!

Got that thumb again!

Cute in his striped long sleeve onesie, overalls and boat shoes!

Room Decorations

This is my Pinterest project I did for Brody's room. I absolutely love it, and it was pretty easy to make too!! The original plan was to have it hanging on a curtain rod, but all the walls in his room are concrete we found out sooo the screws wouldn't go in and we tried several ways to try to get the curtain rod to stay up with no luck so that would be the reason why the plug ins aren't covered up now! The last thing we tried made the paint come off and we didn't have any to touch it up with so now the plug ins show but whatever it's still cute lol.

Supplies:
Canvas'
Wood Letters (or if you have a cricut or other type of die cut machine you can do that also I just didn't have one)
Ribbon
Scrapbook paper (or fabric or combination of both)
Hot glue gun
Tacks
Wooden half circles to cover up the tacks (found at hobby lobby by where all the wood letters are)
Mod Podge

The tacks and circles were my solution to the curtain rod not working, I think it came out pretty good despite me wanting to REALLY use to the curtain rod lol.

To put it together just mod podge the scrapbook paper onto the canvas (if you use fabric I would either hot glue or staple it on) While that is drying you can paint your letters or paint your letters first so maybe they will be done by the time you are all done with the canvas. When everything is dry hot glue the letters to the canvas. You can put your ribbon on your canvas however you want or use none at all it's up to you. And then determine how long you want your hanging pieces, cut them and hot glue them onto the back. I wanted mine to stagger so I did 3 one length and 2 another. Then you are ready to hang it!

Name Sign - Project for my nephew

I made this sign for my nephew for his birthday and it was SUPER easy to do. All the supplies are from Hobby Lobby.

Supplies:
Bottle Caps
Scrapbook Letters
Wooden Car
Sign
Ribbon
Your choice of paint color

His room is in transportation so that is why I chose the car and it kind of looks like a Chevy which is my familys favorite brand of car. Obviously I painted it lol. I put the scrap book stickers on the bottle caps and then put modge podge over it so they would stay better. I used hot glue to glue everything onto the sign. You can judge the ribbon on the bag to hang it with depending on how low you want it to hang. There is probably a better way to hang it but I didn't notice there wasn't anything to hang it with on the back until I was starting it and I have a bunch of ribbon so I just decided to use ribbon. If try this project and come up with a better thing to hang it with let me know!

Brody's room

Here are some pictures of the nursery. I will post pictures and details of the projects in my next post!

Ignore the mess on the sides, I was putting away all of his newborn stuff :(. And the other side is the paper lanterns for his mobile I still need to make.

This wall is going to have the monogram letters on it that are sitting on the chair right now and I'm going to make a couple of collages for either side of the letters. I will get those up as soon as I get them done!

His armoire with chalkboard paint...probably one of my favorite projects and pieces in the room!

My cousin made this banner with his name on it for the baby shower! She had no idea that this was the exact fabric of his bedding she just knew the colors! Love it!

New things...

Brody has started to do some new little things the past couple of days that crack me up!
  • Yesterday he was laying on his play mat and I hear him making this noise that sounds like a kiss/smack and I look down and he was doing some weird thing with his tongue. I tried to get a video of him yesterday and today doing it but of course when I get my phone out he stops lol. I think I might have gotten it some yesterday but the video is really long and mostly of him just kicking and stuff lol.
  • Today I was trying to get all my garage sale stuff marked and wasn't paying very much attention to him while he was on the floor on his play mat, every once in awhile when he wanted attention he would make a little coughing noise until I talked to him lol. Then I would start marking my stuff again and a few mins later he would do it again. Yup he already has his mama wrapped around his finger & it is so cute! lol

Tummy Sleeping???

Ok, so I know that "they" say that baby's should always sleep on their backs but what do you do when you baby sleeps better on his tummy? When we were all growing up our parents always put is on our tummies and we are still here right? I am absolutely TERRIFIED of SIDS but Brody sleeps SO much better on his tummy it seems. I don't put him on his tummy very often, usually the second time he wakes up which is anywhere between 5-7 am I will put him on his tummy to go back to sleep and sometimes for naps if I put him on the floor on a blanket or his play mat thing on his tummy he falls asleep better. I don't want to put him at risk for SIDS but I also want him to get good sleep so what do I do? Advice appreciated!!

2 Month Update & 2 Month Favorites

WOW! I cannot believe that little B is ALREADY 2 months old...where does the time go!! This has definitely been the hardest, greatest, most fun & challenging 2 months of my life I think but I wouldn't change it for the world! We absolutely love getting to know our little boy and being his parents! I never imaged JUST how awesome being a mom would be, I wouldn't change it for the world!! Here are some updates on little man!

  • At his 2 month check up appointment he weighed 12 lbs 6 oz (OMG Chunky boy! He weighed 6 lbs 14 oz at birth in case you want to calculate that yourself! lol) He was 22.4 inches long (19 inches at birthday).  So that makes him in the 76th percentile for weight and 38th percentile for height...short and chubby like his daddy lol.
  • He is now up to eating 4 oz about every 3 hrs or so
  • He sleeps about 4 hours at a time during the night before he wakes up and wants to eat...we still never get to bed most nights before 12...sometimes if we are lucky it's between 11-11:30 but that doesn't happen too often. (What I would give to be the hubby some nights just so I get to go to bed at 10 and sleep all night lol)
  • We get LOTS of smiles now...I absolutely love it! Totally makes worth being up super late and not getting much sleep worth it during the day when I get big smiles!
  • Everyone still says he looks like his daddy...poor kid haha just kidding. If you look at baby pictures he looks like both of us cause we were both chunky babies! lol
  • Pretty sure he's got his daddy's blue eyes (YES!!! I love them lol) everyone on my dad's side of the family has blue eyes too so I think he had a good chance lol.
  • I still have not mustered up the courage to put him in his bed at night...it's way on the other side of the house I just can't do it! lol especially with him still waking up at night it's much more comfortable for me to feed him in bed...and a part on the glider in his room broke and I can't find the replacement part!!! If anyone knows where to find replacement parts for Moash gliders let me know!
  • He also cooes and "talks" quite a bit...we have fun conversations during the day I tell ya! lol
  •  He only enjoys tummy time for just a little bit before he gets mad because he can't hold his head up very long yet and he doesn't like not being able to see. He LOVES to kick things...which usually happens to be my legs or computer when he is laying by me lol I really need to go find him some things to kick that make noise lol
  • He loooooves looking at fans & lights. I think bright colors are pretty fun for him too!
  • I am FINALLY going to start trying to lose the rest of the baby weight so there may be posts about that on here too!!
Now some 2 month favorites:

We still love our Boppy Pillow! It is also good for Tummy Time so he can look around lol
Gripe Water
This stuff is GREAT to get rid of hiccups, you are suppose to give 2 of the droppers but his hiccups are usually gone after one dropper. It's a little expensive but we've had it for about a month so it's worth it (maybe not expensive to some but 10 bucks on a little 4 oz bottle of water is a bit ridiculous for my cheapness lol) It also works pretty well when his tummy hurts. But most definitely is awesome with those darn hiccups cause the make him so mad! lol

Tommee Tippe Pacifiers
These are the binky's we have used from the beginning and he seems to really like them. I bought some Nuk ones yesterday because we needed one more so I didn't have to steal one from another place (we have one in the pack n play, one in his crib & one in his car seat & we needed one to just use around the house so one of the others didn't get lost in the process lol) the Nuk ones are pretty good too. I don't think he's too picky lol.

Those are really the only things that I think are new this month from the last month favorites. If I think of anything else I will add them later!
Some of our favorite places to shop right now are Carters & Target, Carters stuff seems to always fit him really well and not be super baggy which drives me NUTS! lol We also like Resale shops and I am suuuuuuuuuper excited for the Rhea Lana (clicky the linky to check them out and see if they are coming close to you!) cosignment sale that is coming in a few weeks...TONS of great stuff for babies from furniture, clothes, bedding, pretty much ANYTHING you need for baby, toddler, & maternity. I got so much great stuff from the last one (I think I had about 2 bags full) and spent like $60 bucks! Can't beat that!!!
I'm gonna take some 2 month pictures tomorrow so those will be up soon!!
